OK... this is fun... It seems that several of my wonderful readers would like to name the baby...
Just so you all know, we NEVER tell anyone what we're naming the baby until after it's born! There have to be some secrets in life...
However, if you would like to leave suggestions, please feel free... It is fun to read them...

Quote of the day, from Seth: "Is the stove still on fire?"
So... yeah... there's a first time for everything... Technically, it was not the stove itself that was on fire, but some cheese inside the stove...

So... just to clear things up... Seth and Grace are not kissing in the profile pic. They are running around each other in circles... also waiting for Dumbo. I think it was the longest line we waited in our entire trip... gotta love the classics...
And since we're talking about flying elephants, it suddenly occured to me that some of you might be interested in seeing a pic. of my first ever Dumbo flight... in 1983 (OK... so no one is really interested in seeing it, but I am still lacking interesting things to write about... remember?). I am well aware that most of my loyal readers were not born yet... please... don't remind me... Here it is:

Currently Watching
The Visitation
see relatedOK... So, I have had basically nothing to write about for weeks, and every time I do have something to write about I'm too exhausted (or maybe just plain lazy) to get on here...
I did just realize that I never wrote my review of "The Visitation", so I'll do that now... if for no other reason than to make a decent post...
I have now watched the movie twice, because when I first watched it I couldn't remember the book very well (read it in 1998). Since then, I have re-read the book. After my second viewing of the movie, here's what I thought...
It was a pretty good movie if... you didn't read the book...
The basic plot of the movie was interesting, though not entirely original. I did like some of the twists, and the film took some interesting turns that the book didn't in order to fit it into two hours. There was definately some violence, but it was moderate... and only mild if you sat through The Lord of the Ring trilogy... or maybe even Star Wars. Sexual tension was mild on screen, although definately implied at times. The only language issue is near the end of the movie... and even that can be left up to interpretation (to say more would be a spoiler). There is definately an element of spiritual battle, and demons are portrayed in a way that is too intense for young viewers. But, overall, it's a "safe" bet for adult and teenage audiences.
However, if you've read the book (and maybe especially if you liked the book) be aware that this is not the same story. First off, the casting is terrible! The characters in the book are simply not the characters in the movie. Just as an example, the irritating, but loveable, young, Charismatic, "Kyle Sherman" is played by a very stoic Randy Travis (uh... not young... need I say more...) Other charcters who are dramatically different include "Morgan Elliot", "Dee Baylor" - who is portrayed as "Brett Hencle's" wife in the movie, and "Sally Fordyce"... yet another member of the Henchle family... In addition to the casting issues, many of the main ideas of the plot are quite different. Should you choose to see the movie, this will be evident from the very first scene. But perhaps the most disappointing thing for me was that the entire spiritual journey of "Travis Jordan", as described in the book, is lost. I understand there are time contraints for a movie that a book doesn't have, but they could create another film in its entirety out of that material, and frankly, I wish someone would.
So... my recommendation? Read the book. And if you want to watch the movie, too... go ahead... but don't expect them to be the same.

Wow... the summer is flying by... sort of...
I am getting a little bored with "summer vacation", as are the kids... I ordered their curriculum for the Fall, so I'm pretty excited about getting that in the mail over the next week or so...
I watched the All Star Game last night with Seth and Grace. Well, actually, that was only until the fourth inning, at which point Grace fell asleep. Then I watched the All Star Game with Seth... which lasted until around the seventh, when he also fell asleep! Go American League!
Guess that's it...

Currently Reading
Last Light (Restoration, Book 1)
By Terri Blackstock
see relatedWow... It is the end of an era for Detroit sports...
So... first Steve Yzerman retires after 22 years with the Wings... 20 as captain. It's notable... I mean, look at the numbers... but I'm not really a hockey fan, so that's not what's getting to me... (as a side note, i do own an official Red Wings octopus headband... just in case you ever wondered)
But... oh... how things are changing for the Pistons... Personally, I was of the opinion that we needed to do whatever was needed to re-sign Ben... short of selling my children, of course... But, alas... 4 years at 12 million dollars a pop just didn't do it... Upon hearing this, my initial reaction was... obviously... offer him more! Which someone did... but it wasn't the Pistons... and Ben Wallace is now a Chicago Bull... now that adds insult to injury if anything does... Gosh, I hate even typing that nasty team name on my blog... YUCK! (Lisa shivers as she re-reads the last line and thinks she might throw up...)
Thankfully, football season hasn't started... Detroit fans can't take much more today!
Well... go Tigers...
